The man made the remarks before slicing the victim in the Empire Deli on Ninth Ave. near W. 25 St. at 6 a.m. on Friday, according to cops.
Surveillance footage of the incident shows the man swinging the knife toward the victim, who suffered a laceration to his wrist.
The incident is being investigated as a bias crime, police said.
The attacker, described as black, 30 years old and 5-foot-8, was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, dark-colored pants and a white shirt. He dashed out of the store after the attack.
